Writing & Publications

Writing is an extension of Sam Aros-Mitchell’s performance practice — a space where embodied experience becomes language, reflection, and theory. Essays, lectures, and scholarly work articulate the conceptual dimensions of Performance as Ceremony, translating movement-based inquiry into forms that can be shared, studied, and revisited across contexts.

Rather than documenting performance, writing functions as another site of research, allowing choreography to continue beyond the moment of performance.

Scholarly Writing

Research-based writing exploring Indigenous performance, embodiment, and relational knowledge systems.

Artist Writing

Texts emerging directly from creative process, articulating performance as ceremonial and relational practice.

Talks & Lectures

Public presentations integrating scholarship, performance, and embodied demonstration.

Current writing projects continue to develop the framework of Performance as Ceremony, exploring how choreography can function as cultural memory, relational practice, and Indigenous futurity.
